September 2009:: Brotherton Community Champion

Congratulations to Steve and Kathy Dewalt for being the
Brotherton Community Champion
for September 2009.

"Kathy Fahlman Dewalt, a music educator, and her husband Steve Dewalt, are the catalysts who brought the "Ten Grands" concert to Seattle for the first time in 2008 and a return engagement -- a sellout -- this year. This benefit concert, expected to be an annual event in Seattle, is a production of The Snowman Foundation, a Portland-based nonprofit whose mission is to give the gift of music to children. All proceeds support music education, programs and activities for youngsters. Thanks to the leadership, dedication and boundless energy of the Dewalts, 12 Puget Sound-area groups received grants from funds raised at the sellout “Ten Grands” concert held April 3 at Benaroya Hall. www.tengrands.com, www.snowmanfoundation.org" - Cheribren

"When times are tough, music and the arts are more important than ever in sustaining the soul, inspiring imagination, and bringing joy to the faces of children. There wasn't a dry eye in the house at Benaroya Hall. Thank you Kathy and Steve!" - Melinda and Bob Hord
