This was the first CTS Coupe that has been sold at our dealership. Richard traded in a 2004 Cadillac CTS and is extremely excited about his upgrade.

for March 2010.

"It gives me great pleasure to nominate Kaytie Joo-Yun for the Brotherton Community Champions scholarship. Academically, she soars with a GPA of 3.78 which is consistent throughout her entire school career. Kaytie is well respected among her peers and embraces opportunities at school.

Because of this she is currently the ASB Secretary for her class, is in the Orchestra Club (currently performing in the pit orchestra for Les Miserables and has been playing the violin since 4th grade), Key Club (this is a community service club – last weekend Kaytie participated in the “Bringing them Home” walk-a-thon and raised money for a family who is adopting three children). Last month she even received the very prestigious VISSTA Award (Very Industrious Students Striving to Achieve) which is quite an honor at her school. Kaytie has also participated in a walk-a-thon to raise money to restore a church in Scotland wearing the McNeil tartan and Celtic broach. She is Scottish in her heart but is a Korean adoptee. She very much embraces her Korean culture and is very active in KIDS (Korean Identity Development Society) often planning events for the teen group throughout the year.

Her parents are middle-class without much extra money so when she decided she wanted to visit her birth country for the first time last year, she used her creative thinking and made note pads and shopping lists and raised enough money to go last January – as you can see when Kaytie sets her mind to do something, she doesn’t set limitations.

Her love of community does not have borders as she reached out this past January and in lieu of birthday presents asked for donations to go to the Eastern Child Welfare Society in Korea. Kaytie’s outreach to others is with her whole selfless heart and she does so not for any recognition but because she genuinely feels it important to reach out to others. Kaytie has her sights set on going to the University of Washington and I am sure she will find a way to follow her dreams and goals. Kaytie talks often of going to college and is encouraged to do so by her Mom and Step Dad who do not have college degrees. It is my hope to collect scholarship money to help her attain that very important goal.

As you can see Kaytie is a high achiever, is involved in her community and school, and is quite a special young lady. It is my hope that you give her serious consideration to become a Brotherton Community Champion."

But challenge is no stranger to Marja Brandon, it is something she seeks; it becomes her inspiration, her friend.

Marja Brandon is the headmaster of Seattle Girls’ School (SGS) located in the Central District of Seattle. She moved from Boston in 2000 in response to the “education hungry” parents wanting a girl’s middle school as bold and impactful as their daughter’s potential. Since the schools’ inception, Marja has dedicated herself and her staff to living up to this challenge and mission: to inspire and develop courageous leaders who think independently, work collaboratively, learn joyfully, and champion change.Challenge and inspiration are now synonymous to SGS students. "Even though Victoria is only 16 years old, she has done alot in her community. She has volunteered over 1000 hours. She has also received the President's Gold Medal for Volunteer Service and the Prudential Spirit of Excellence in her Community Award. She started years ago, by volunteering in her Elementary School- crossing guard, cafeteria volunteer and library helper. She also started working with Operation Christmas Child to make shoe boxes for kids at Christmas time. She has made over 300 boxes. Victoria has also been involved in dance since she was 3 years old.

She dances 10-15 hours each week. Despite her busy schedule she also volunteers at her dance studio 1 hour a week. She loves sharing her passion for dance with younger kids. She has also volunteered with many events at her High School, Compassion, Blessing of Blankets and many more. Along with her love for serving others, Victoria also has a 4.0 GPA. Her goal is graduate as the valedictorian and go to the college of her choice. She would like to major in Business and dance. "

"Since North Helpline/Lake City Food Bank’s inception in 2001, Bob Hathaway has been one of our biggest supporters. He gives of his time, his resources, and most importantly, his heart.
As soon as word went out that a new food bank was coming to his community, Bob began making inquiries to see what it was he could do to help. He began by helping set up the configuration for the food bank distribution lines. He used his expertise from years in the restaurant industry to make the process as humane and efficient as possible in a relatively small space. “It’s hard enough to go through a tough financial time,” he explains. “I wanted to create an environment that respected the dignity of the clients who used it.”
When the food bank was finally ready to open our doors, Bob volunteered to order all of the food that would be needed to be able to distribute well rounded, nutritional meals to all of the families that came to the food bank. He not only set up the food for ease in distribution every Friday and Saturday, but he made sure he was here to continually stock the selections as the food was distributed.
Bob was also one of the original Board of Directors members and only resigned several years ago as he started to pursue a college degree. Today, he continues to come in every Saturday without fail to stock the tables and direct the volunteers on distribution day. Throughout the years, as we have gone from serving 150 to 650 families each week, Bob has been here to help configure new line ups to make sure people not only have choices but that they are served in an efficient and comfortable manner.
Bob works at the Wedgwood Alehouse and has raised thousands of dollars for North Helpline through their annual golf tournament. He also convinced the restaurant to host a “dine-out” event to benefit North Helpline/Lake City Foodbank. He has made it his mission to let all of the Alehouse’s customers know about the work that is done at the food bank and the ways in which they might help.
The food bank relies on over 200 volunteers each week to keep operations running smoothly. Bob has taken every opportunity to recruit family, friends and even complete strangers to volunteer their time at North Helpline. And we have received thousands of dollars in donations because Bob makes sure those he comes in contact with know of our service to the community. He has a food barrel at the restaurant which his customers continue to fill every month to help replenish our food needs.
Despite working full time and attending college, he has given over 5000 hours of his time to eliminating hunger in his community. Bob is an invaluable volunteer and friend to the North Helpline and his commitment to people in need is truly unparalleled." -AbeSunder

Even though Dakoda Fenter is only 17 years old he has dedicated endless hours to volunteer work in the nearby communities where he lives.

"At age 13, despite being a year too young to enter the program, Dakoda B. Fenter applied for and was accepted into the Explorer’s Post at Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office."

"Volunteer events included security at local fairs and festivals such as Seafair, the Evergreen State Fair, Kla-Ha-Ya Days and the Sultan Shindig, as well as security at events such as the Methamphetamine Summit at Everett Event Center, security at Paine Field for the roll out of the 787 airliner, and finger printing young children at the local YMCA’s for identification, among many other events."

"Being an S.C.S.O. Explorer was filled with opportunities to learn through real life experiences. Dakoda was able to go on ride along’s with Officer’s of the various different Police Agencies in the area, which he did on a regular basis. Most ride along’s were 12 hours in duration and involved many different types of police incidents ranging from domestic violence to motor vehicle accidents to shootings. This was real life training not something learned from a book and it was something Dakoda had a real passion for. Dakoda also had the opportunity to attend and graduate from a 6 day Police Academy in Yakima, WA. This Academy was structured military style, in the middle of December (cold below 0), it was hard and intense but he survived and came out a stronger man with a different perspective on life."
"Dakoda learned life skills beyond his years in the S.C.S.O. Explorer’s Program. He participated in the Sheriff’s Office Explorer’s Program for 4 years before moving on to the Fire Department Explorer’s Program in March 2009.
Just after Dakoda turned 17 in February 2009 he decided to take on a new challenge. Although he loved his part in the Sheriff’s Office he wanted to try something different and decided that this was to become a Fire Explorer with the Snohomish Fire Department. Over the last year Dakoda has participated in the Fire Departments Explorer’s Program in Snohomish, WA. The Fire Program is much like the Sheriff’s Office Explorer’s Program. Dakoda was required to attend weekly meetings to learn about fire, first aid and other life saving skills. He also volunteered his time to help the Fire Department prepare for events in their city such as parades, the local fair and car shows. Dakoda was allowed to go on ride along’s again only this time on a Fire Truck or in a Medic Unit. Through this experience Dakoda became really interested in the Paramedic aspect of the Fire Program which opened many doors for him to explore in the area of emergency medicine and this became his new found passion."

"What a great opportunity and experience it has been for Dakoda to be a part of something that is so important, that helps so many people in the community. This experience shaped him as a person and has helped lead him down the path towards success. It is awesome that there are programs like these available for our youth to participate in locally, in our own communities. "

"Dakoda recently resigned from the Fire Program in order to focus on his future goals. His rigorous work and school schedules demand his full attention in order to achieve his success in becoming an RN (Registered Nurse Degree). Dakoda will graduate from Glacier Peak High School in Snohomish in June 2010. In January 2010, 6 months prior to graduating high school, Dakoda will be taking college classes at Everett Community College through the Running Start Program offered at his school. Dakoda’s early entry into college will satisfy 25 required college credits, which are all prerequisites to the Nursing Program that he will start in the fall of 2011. Dakoda’s desire is to obtain his BSN (Bachelor Degree of Science in Nursing). Dakoda is looking forward to the day that he can put all of his education, skills and training into real life experiences where he can help care for and save the lives of people in his community."

"In November of 2000, Sarah Slack gave birth to her stillborn baby son, Jesse. It took her and her husband over a year to raise the money needed for Jesse's grave marker, but by then she had a mission. Sarah set out to make sure other parents grieving over the loss of an infant could have a marker of their own.
The TEARS Foundation was born of one woman's sorrow, and has eased the grief of hundreds of parents since then. Sarah is supported by a team of volunteers - many of whom also know the grief of losing a baby - but in many ways, she is on a one-woman mission to help bereaved parents. Since starting TEARS just a few short years ago, the foundation has continued to grow, serving over 150 families in 2009 alone. How many parents, when expecting a baby, plan for burial costs? When parents can't afford funeral costs for their infants, Sarah is there to help. And when the funeral is over, she is there to help pick up the emotional pieces, as well.
Sarah Slack is a hero to me and many other parents who know the value of honoring their babies' memories, showing the world that they were on this planet for a brief shining moment, and will be remembered for a lifetime."

"250 characters is not enough to describe how great Paige is. I could easily fill 25 pages with just what I've seen her do. Suffice to say she is one of the unsung heroes of Seattle and someone who I aspire to be like every day." -Michelle

"Paige sits with a client, going over insurance forms. It's not part of her job description as Manager of Providence Regina House in South Park, but she does it just the same. "I feel my job is to be the go to person for the community." Paige says as she smiles.
Paige Collins has become just that, the go to person. Each client that enters the food bank experiences her warmth, humor, and friendship. No one that is hungry is turned away. She helps clients maintain their dignity. There are special treats for the kids. She helps find other community programs to help her clients or South Park and supports community events.
If you visit Paige on any given day, you will see an array of people that stop by, for food or clothing, but to just say "hi" and let her know how they are doing.
For these reasons and so many others I nominate her for this award."

"Officer Ted Rutt has been a police officer with Tukwila Police Department for the last 20 years. As we all know, the police officer's motto is "To Protect and Serve." Ted Rutt takes the "Serve" part of that motto very seriously. Since he was a teenager helping out in his mother's in-home daycare, Officer Rutt has felt a desire to make serving his community and working with Special Olympics of Washington his very personal and public campaigns."

"Not only has he donated his time, but he has been the heart and soul of most every Special Olympics fundraising effort in the Tukwila area for the past 30 years. As a teenager, Officer Rutt volunteered to help out with Special Olympics events in his home town of Olympia as often as his schedule would allow, and now, as a Community Police Officer, he has been able to organize and carry out much larger and more celebrated events."
"Some of Officer Rutt's fundraising events are things he comes up with himself and turns into a reality. He has bowled for over 72 hours at Tukwila's Acme Bowl, mixed ice cream and toppings at Cold Stone Creamery, spoken at Elks' and Lions' Clubs, and arranged a Valentine's Day Polar Bear Plunge to name only a few. In 2003, he was chosen as one of 50 police officers in the United States to help run the Special Olympics torch from Athens, Greece to Belfast, Ireland. He was put on a team with nine other officers and athletes from around the world. Throughout the different countries in which he found himself, he and his team would run the torch around the cities, then stop and talk to the supporters who were there about Special Olympics. He also puts together the torch run for Special Olympics of Washington every May as officers run the torch from the Peace Arch to McCord Air Force Base for the Opening Ceremonies. Officer Rutt's enthusiasm for this cause has never wavered, and his excitement has actually caused more and more people to volunteer with him every year."

"When Officer Ted Rutt decided many years ago to go into policing, he knew that he would see things that would make him mad, make him cry and make him smile. He knew that he would be involved in many things that would cause him to question his choice. What he didn't realize is how much of a positive impact he could and would have on the lives of the people in the Tukwila community and in the lives of the many Special Olympics athletes he works with all the time. When asked why he does what he does, he will look somewhat sheepish and say it is what anyone would do. Not anyone, Officer Rutt, YOU!"

"Meghan Swanlund has spent her short life trying to make her community a better place. She has spent the better half of the past 5 years an active participant of Pierce County’s Daffodil Festival. In 2004, as a senior at Emerald Ridge High School, she was selected to represent the school as their Princess. Since then, she has continued to support and back the festival, which has recently been crippled by financial woes. Last August, she organized a fundraiser which raised over $1000 for the festival’s royalty. For the past two years, she has worked as Mt. Tahoma High School’s Daffodil Coronation Coordinator – which ensures that this high school will be able to have a princess in the upcoming festival. Her biggest fear is seeing this 76 year old tradition, which provided her with a college scholarship and a lifetime of memories and community connections, fade away into Pierce County’s history."

"Meghan is also a champion for cancer awareness and research. Her grandmother succumbed to breast cancer shortly before she was born, and her other grandmother was diagnosed with stomach cancer just one month ago.

In September, Meghan will be walking in the Breast Cancer 3-day in Seattle. In order to raise the necessary money, she has been fundraising tirelessly. In June she organized a Masquerade Ball, in which the proceeds benefited the 3-Day Walk. That night she raised over $2400. As soon as she had cleaned up the ballroom from that event, she was back at the drawing board, figuring out how to make next year’s Masquerade Ball a bigger success, and organizing her next fundraiser.

I can always tell when Meghan is passionate about something, because it consumes her. It is mesmerizing watching her plans from the brainstorming stage, all the way until the final touch has been placed. Meghan is a recent graduate of Washington State University. She works as a paralegal for a Tacoma law firm. As if she is not busy enough, she has decided to pursue her dream of becoming a teacher and at night, she is attending college courses, prepping for graduate school."

"Though she seems to always be on the move, she always makes time for the important people in her life. Meghan is truly deserving of this nomination, this recognition, and this award."

Brotherton Commercial:: Teaming up with the Moyer Foundation

Brotherton and the Moyers

As you can probably tell from the posts, we do a lot of activities and events with the Moyer Foundation. For June/July, the Brotherton's did a commercial with Karen Moyer. Not only is the Moyer Foundation a big charity that we are involved in, but the Moyers are also customers here at Brotherton, and a part of our automotive family.

Thank you to Brian Michaels with Hitman Productions for the directing and making of this commercial. It looks awesome.

::Cops with Cancer::

So, as you all probably know... Brotherton is strongly involved with charity events, and community activities. We do our best to reach out, and make a difference, not only in our customers lives, but in the community as well.

On June 5th, "Cops with Cancer" was held at Brotherton Cadillac, Pontiac, Buick, GMC.

"It is our desire to provide support to the men and women of law enforcement who have been diagnosed with cancer. By providing support we can help these officers and their families deal with the emotional impact of this illness. Our desire is to also help the agencies these officers work for. How an officer diagnosed with cancer is treated by their agency plays a major role in their battle." - Cops with Cancer Organization

Big thank you to Bill and Stacy Judd who were a huge help in getting everything put together and who held a big part in planning this event.

Butch Harrison Quartet, did a amazing job on the music.

There was a silent auction that was held during the event, where all the proceeds went to the charity "Cops with Cancer" and the Special Olympics.

It was a Dinner Event along with the Silent Auction... Don Person did a awesome job preparing the delicious treats... Steak, potatoes, salad, shrimp etc. It was amazing.

Miss Washington was also a special guest, that was able to come and support the "Cops with Cancer" Event.

Thank you again for everyone that was able to make it, and to all the people that were a part of the night. The dinner and silent auction was a success, and they were able to raise $16,000.00 for "Cops with Cancer" and the "Special Olympics".

Moyer Foundation Annual Giving Lunch

On May 20th, 2009, Brad Brotherton and Brotherton Cadillac, Pontiac, Buick, GMC were awarded with the Corporate Partner of the year award by the Moyer Foundation. What a amazing accomplishment, and what a amazing feeling to be able to "Give Back."

The Moyer Foundation funds non-profit organizations that help children in severe distress, children with life threatening illnesses or physical limitations, children who are coping with the loss of loved ones, children who are victims of abuse or neglect, and so much more.

Seattle International Film Festival :: 2009

Brotherton Cadillac, Buick, Pontiac, GMC has been involved with the Seattle International Film Festival for quite some time now...

SIFF is all about creating experiences that bring people together to discover extraordinary films from all around the world. This year we got to showcase the new 2010 Cadillac SRX during the showings...

Brad Brotherton was honored to be able to speak at opening night of the 2009 Seattle International Film Festival. he is pictured here with Deborah Person explaining key partnerships with Brotherton Community Champions, SIFF, and KOMO TV/Radio.

The 2010 Cadillac SRX was such a hit that even Dale Chihuly snuck out of the film to get a sneak peek at the 2010 Cadillac SRX.

There was large luncheon held at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue to honor all the nominees. It was a awesome opportunity and a incredible honor.
